Monterey Bay Motor Works has trained technicians that BMW's corporate franchise has recruited and hired.

The combined experience of our staff is well over one hundred years and growing. We are constantly updating our training, tools and information base to keep up to date with a quickly changing industry. We use a digital lab scope and break-out box to gather live data when diagnosing cars preceding fault code technology. The GT 1 allows us to not only diagnose, but code and program BMW control units and modules for newer vehicles. Our Assenmacher retriever scan tool allows us to quickly diagnose present models, and determine if a full diagnostic with the GT 1 is necessary. With our combination of modern tooling, training and proper attitude, no problem is too complex.

Jeff Jacobsen is the new owner of Monterey Bay Motor Works. Like myself, Jeff started working on BMWs as a hobby. His attention to detail is incomparable. Jeff is not only a true professional, but also a sincere and caring individual. One will not find a more honest person in the automotive industry. Jeff's wife Chris will be at Jeff's side answering phones, and taking over the duties of accountant. I wish Jeff and Chris the very best.

Jim Ricketson , with the company since 1983, has retired as of March 17, 2006. With over forty years in the industry, Jim's main experience before coming to Monterey Bay Motor Works was with Mercedes automobiles. Jim will be missed. He was a devoted employee, hard working, resourceful, and a slight pain in the ass. Now that he's gone, I miss the pain.

Virgil Alejo is a careful, thoughtful technician, slow in his approach to new problems, but respectively quick in performing repairs. Virgil enjoys tackling major repairs such as engine tear downs. Virgil is gaining experience with newer BMW technology now that he has exposure to the GT 1 diagnostic tool. His daily cheerfulness is an asset in the shop, and I expect Virgil to stay with Monterey Bay Motor Works for years to come.

Russ Costanza has a history of race car preparation going back to the 1970's, along with a history of working with his father as a mechanic who owned the Shell station in Seaside that once stood at the corner of Freemont and Del Monte Blvd (the now vacant lot being considered for a multipurpose commercial residential complex). His father sold the station to Utah Low, after refusing to submit to the new guidelines established by the Shell Oil Company to renew their lease (no repair bays, and you have to have a mini-mart). Utah ran the station in a respectful manner until his wife died. Russ is a caring and accountable technician. A proud Italian, the only way to shut Russ up is to tie his hands together.

Patrick Earnest is our newest technician apprentice. Pat's a respectful, low key employee that doesn't try to impress anyone. His organizational skills exhibited while working as our detail expert will serve him well as an auto tech. Pat is one of those employees that never seems to rush at anything, and his work is always done ahead of time.

My name is Thomas Andrew. I am extremely proud of Monterey Bay Motor Works, and am pleased to be able to pass the reins to Jeff and Chris Jacobsen. July 5th, 2007, will be our twenty-fifth anniversary, and Jeff's participation almost from it's conception is a major reason of our success. I will act as administrator of the web site, consultant to Jeff, and will relieve Jeff when ill or in when on vacation. Thanks for visiting our web site.
